Program Switching at Holland Clinic

We do allow switching from our Classic Program to Our GLP-1 Program and Visa Versa but there are some facts you should consider before so doing.

At Holland Clinic, we understand that each individual has unique weight loss goals, health concerns, and personal preferences. As such, we offer two distinct medical weight loss programs: the Classic Program and the GLP Program. Both programs have been designed to help our patients lose weight effectively and safely, but it is important to understand the distinctions between the two, as well as the policies that apply to switching between them.

The Classic Program focuses on the use of traditional anorectic drugs, such as phentermine, which have been used for many years to help suppress appetite and assist with weight loss. The GLP Program, on the other hand, utilizes GLP-1 agonists like Saxenda and Wegovy. These medications mimic the natural hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which is responsible for regulating appetite and blood sugar levels. In recent years, GLP-1 agonists have gained popularity for their potential to provide more effective weight loss for some individuals.

While both programs have demonstrated success in helping patients lose weight, it is crucial to recognize that neither is a miracle solution. The efficacy of the GLP-1 program may be slightly greater for some people, but the differences are not substantial. Ultimately, the key to successful weight loss is a combination of medication, a healthy diet, regular physical activity, and a commitment to making sustainable lifestyle changes.

At Holland Clinic, we want to ensure that our patients are satisfied with their chosen weight loss program and are achieving their desired results. As such, we have implemented a policy that allows patients to switch between the Classic and GLP programs if they feel that their current program is not meeting their needs. However, this option is dependent on medical qualification, as there may be contraindications to switching programs. If switching is deemed medically unsuitable or unsafe, it cannot be done.

It is essential to remember that switching between programs does not guarantee an improvement in efficacy or a reduction in side effects. Both the Classic and GLP programs can produce side effects, and while the specific side effects may differ between the two programs, there is no guarantee that changing programs will eliminate them entirely. As with any medical treatment, the response to weight loss medications varies from person to person.

The Classic Program, which utilizes traditional anorectic drugs, can cause side effects such as increased heart rate, dry mouth, insomnia, and constipation. These side effects may be problematic for some patients.

In contrast, the GLP Program's medications can cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and injection site reactions.

It is important to discuss any concerns or side effects with Dr. Holland, as he can offer guidance on managing side effects and adjusting your treatment plan if necessary. The decision to switch between programs should be made in consultation with him, taking into account your medical history, current health status, and specific weight loss goals.

In conclusion, Holland Clinic's Classic and GLP weight loss programs offer two distinct approaches to medically-assisted weight loss. We recognize that each patient is unique and may require adjustments to their treatment plan to achieve the best possible results. However, it is essential to understand that neither program is a miracle solution, and switching between them does not guarantee improved efficacy or the elimination of side effects. Open communication with your healthcare provider and a dedication to healthy lifestyle changes are key to achieving long-term weight loss success.

At Holland Clinic, our primary goal is to support our patients in their weight loss journey, providing them with the resources, guidance, and medical expertise necessary to make informed decisions about their health. We encourage patients to maintain an open dialogue with us, discussing their progress, addressing any concerns, and asking questions about their treatment plan.

When considering a change in your weight loss program, it is essential to weigh the potential benefits and risks associated with each option. Both the Classic and GLP programs have proven effective for many individuals, but personal factors such as medical history, current health status, and individual response to medications can significantly impact the overall success of a weight loss plan.

In some cases, switching programs may lead to better results, improved tolerance of medication, or a better fit with your personal preferences and lifestyle. However, it is crucial to remember that no weight loss program is without challenges, and the key to success lies in persistence, consistency, and a commitment to healthy habits.

In summary, Holland Clinic is dedicated to helping our patients achieve their weight loss goals through personalized medical treatment plans, including the Classic Program and the GLP Program. While we understand that each individual's journey is unique and that adjustments may be necessary, it is important to remember that switching programs does not guarantee improved efficacy or the elimination of side effects. We encourage patients to communicate openly with their healthcare providers, engage in healthy lifestyle habits, and remain committed to their weight loss journey, regardless of which program they choose.
